About Gloucestershire College
Gloucestershire College is a successful college of further and higher education in the UK, offering a wide range of education and training programmes, including A Levels and GCSEs, vocational qualifications, work-based learning, basic skills courses, higher education, short courses for business, part-time day and evening courses and English for overseas students.
Every year Gloucestershire College produce their new prospectus with information about the college, their courses, student life, facilities and an explanation of course types and qualifications.
They wanted to be able to capture their reader's interest and keep them engaged while looking through the prospectus. The aim was to show the college as a fun, modern and innovative place where students would enjoy studying.
Furthermore they needed the ability to update information in their courses so that it remained up to date. Due to the nature of college courses some courses get filled, some cancelled, some elements change and removed. Once their prospectuses have gone to print then they no longer have any control over content changes. To keep applicants happy they wanted their prospectuses to constantly be a reliable resource so students would not be disappointed by applying for courses that are now full or no longer running.
WeClick Media's creative development team received the PDF's of the prospectus, detailed page by page what animation could be done and how much each page would cost with the suggested animation. The college team was then able to decide what they could do within their budget and animation began.
A PDF builder was then custom built for them so that students could select just the pages of the prospectus that are relevant to the reader and then they can download it into a personalized book.
A beautifully animated prospectus that makes you want to turn the page to see what will happen next. A reliable, up to date resource that can be customized to each individual's course requirements thanks to a fully interactive prospectus builder.
Thousands of unique visitors looked at each prospectus and with an average of 30 pages views they certainly spent time looking through the publication proving that digital publications can keep the readers interest and be a powerful tool for communicating to a large and varied audience.
Gloucestershire College were so happy with how their prospectuses have turned out and how well they have been received that there is now a strong argument for only producing digital versions from now on and investing more in that area rather than the old printed prospectus approach. Next year more videos and rich content will also be added with a look to include interviews with students, videos of students participating in courses, possibly a soundtrack/student radio to listen to while browsing, an online application form integrated into the pages so they can fill it in immediately and many more creative features to make the experience enjoyable, informative and user friendly.
